„Big man dancing“ is the subtitle given to the fourth studio album by Otros Aires. And indeed, he is dancing
again, Otros Aires, the „Big Man“ of the new Tango who cannot by overseen and ignored any more.
10 restless years with concert tours throughout the whole world, several recording session are behind the
four Argentinians. They converted themselves in the epitome of a new elegant and contemporary tango
that calls the dance-floor its home but is deeply rooted in the traditions of Buenos Aires.
Consequentially “Otros Aires 4” was
created on the road between backstage,
sound-check, stages and holiday at
home. Lots of the songs are dedicated
to the passionate tango dancers Otros
Aires plays for at concerts and Milongas
from Moscow to Mexico. For them the
musicians around band-leader Miguel
Di Genova mix Latin-, hip-hop-, rock
and funk-grooves into their sound and
continue this way the heritage of tango
renovator Astor Piazzolla.
But of course on the road there is a lot
of time for thinking. The song “Perfume
de Mujer” treats the beautiful moments
that fly away quickly like the perfume of
a woman is passing by. Miguel Di Genova wrote this song after his father
had passed away.
Next to music are all the anecdotes the musicians experience on tour and
all the interesting people they meet a great remedy for melancholy. The
owner of a small hostel in Palermo turned out to be a great rapper. As
“Othello Man” he is now featured on “Raro”. The special thing about
it is that he raps in Sicilian. Apart from him the album features also the
tango vocalists Omar Mollo and Agustin Fuertes plus harmonica player
Joe Powers.
With “4” Otros Aires is spreading more and more over the dance-floors
and CD shelves of their fans and music lovers. Again on this album they
never stand still and diffuse the tango again and again to new places.
